How can facial acne scars be treated or reduced?

A fresh, youthful, and healthy complexion is possible, but it requires care. First, it’s always good to have a facial cleansing routine morning and night. It’s also important to exfoliate at least once a week to remove dead skin cells and other impurities, and to stay hydrated by drinking eight glasses of room-temperature water throughout the day. Other recommendations include using sunscreen to minimize the negative effects of UV radiation and eating a balanced diet. However, despite all these precautions, some people suffer or have suffered from acne for a long time. This is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, causing whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples that can even become inflamed and painful.

What causes this condition?

Acne is a multifactorial disease, which includes variables such as:

  • Family or hereditary history.
  • Hormonal changes and thyroid disorders.
  • Nutrition (lack of awareness of certain allergies to foods containing gluten or dairy products, for example).
  • Environmental factors.

However, acne often leaves marks such as pigmented spots (red or brown) as a natural result of skin lesions, affecting the appearance of the face for months or even years. In response to this, at the Comprehensive Health Clinic (CSI) we offer an anti-spot, acne, and scar removal treatment called Lumecca .

What is Lumecca acne treatment?

It is a high-intensity pulsed light therapy based on the principle of selective photothermolysis. Simply put, the light eliminates damaged tissue, giving it a smooth and rejuvenated appearance by stimulating skin regeneration and collagen production. Some advantages of this treatment include:

  • Fast and secure.
  • Painless, thanks to its powerful sapphire-tipped system for dermis cooling.
  • It leaves no stains or scars, and is highly effective.
  • The photorejuvenation effect is achieved in one, two or a maximum of three sessions.
  • High pulse repetition frequency which reduces treatment time.
  • It also works for vascular injuries.
  • It gives the skin a better appearance and luminosity.

It’s truly a technology that works. And it can treat any area of the body, but the most common areas are the face, neck and décolleté, legs, arms, and hands. It’s important to clarify that most patients don’t experience side effects, and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Additionally, you may experience sun sensitivity immediately after treatment, so we always recommend avoiding sun exposure or tanning.
